I am a solicitor and have worked in various areas of the law. I have a strong interest in alternative dispute resolution, mediation and conciliation.
In my previous role, I worked as a family law mediator at Uniting where I would help families reach agreements around parenting and property.
I have also worked in alternative dispute resolution within banking, finance and insurance law for various organisations such as CommBank and the Credit Ombudsman Service Limited.
I joined ADNSW as a Conciliation Officer in January 2022.
Since finishing university, I have always had an interest in the area of discrimination law.
When I saw the role advertised, I was really excited about the prospect of working as Conciliation Officer at ADNSW.
As a Conciliation Officer, I engage with complainants, respondents and various stakeholders.
The role of a Conciliation Officer is to be independent and impartial to all the parties while ensuring the complaint process is consistent with the provisions of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). If it is appropriate, the complaint may also be resolved by way of a conciliation conference whereby the parties meet to discuss the issues in dispute with a view to reaching a resolution.
My favourite part of my role is facilitating the conciliation process.
I think the conciliation process is an integral part of dispute resolution as it helps complainants and respondents reach an agreement in an efficient and cost-effective way.
The process of conciliation provides the parties an important opportunity to discuss options and explore each other’s position in a confidential arena.
I have a keen interest in history, and I am particularly fascinated with Ancient Egyptian history.
I also enjoy travelling and since COVID-19 I have been exploring more of New South Wales, especially our lovely beaches and wonderful outdoors.
