A Day in the Life of Kate Executive Support Officer

Published 29 November

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Hi, my name is Kate Scott-Stevenson and I am the new Executive Support Officer at Anti-Discrimination NSW.

I have a background in criminology and legal services, and have always had a passion for the law and social justice.

I have lived in Sydney all my life, but have family in different countries around the world, so it is lovely when I have the chance to visit them and explore new places.

Why did you join Anti-Discrimination NSW?

Before joining the team here at ADNSW in October 2022, I worked as a Paralegal in the private legal sector, assisting clients with family law, immigration law and criminal law matters.

I have always had a keen interest in learning about anti-discrimination law, and the processes involved which help those who have been discriminated against. I was very excited when the opportunity arose to become a part of this organisation and to move into the public sector, as ADNSW is such a great vehicle for helping people and communities in need.

Can you describe your role?

My role involves providing executive assistance and support to the Executive Manager and President of ADNSW, as well as providing general support to the wider team where needed. Some of my key duties include communicating with internal and external stakeholders, records and calendar management, preparing correspondence, and assisting with staff-related events.

As I am still new to ADNSW, I am looking forward to continuing to learn and grow in this role.

What do you like most about your job?

I have always enjoyed helping others and my role is focused on providing support to an amazing team who carry out important and meaningful work. My role enables me to apply my skills and knowledge, it offers variety in daily tasks, and it provides me with the opportunity to meet new and interesting people.

What keeps you busy outside of work?

I enjoy travelling and spending time with family and friends.

Recently, I welcomed a new Kelpie puppy into my home, and he keeps me very busy!
