Corinne* frequently visits her public library. She has complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) and hearing loss and requires a quiet space.
Due to COVID-19, all the public spaces in the library were restructured. Corinne was told she was unable to access the quiet areas she previously used.
Corinne complained to ADNSW of disability discrimination.
At conciliation, library management agreed to create a quiet space for the public by modifying their group study room policy. A designated group study room would be available for a single person to use for a maximum of 2 hours per day. Corrine was satisfied with the outcome, resolving the complaint.
