Worker with physical disability denied shorter shifts

August 2020

Susan* worked as a casual employee in retail. She developed a physical disability and had medical clearance to work a maximum of five-hour shifts. Her employer refused to accommodate this and required her to work eight-hour shifts.

Susan lodged a complaint with ADNSW. The complaint was settled when her employer agreed to roster her on shifts no longer than five hours, apologised and gave her a gift voucher.
