Denied access to ground floor toilet

Hua* is elderly and has urinary incontinence. She lives with her son Bo* who owns a unit in a strata complex. Hua said the body corporate of the strata plan was discriminating against her on the ground of her disability because it would not allow her to use the toilet on the ground floor, which was reserved for the use of contractors.

Hua lodged a complaint with ADNSW with the assistance of her son.

After ADNSW investigated the matter, the body corporate reversed its decision and provided Hua with a key to access its ground floor toilet facilities.

Hua was satisfied with this outcome and considered her complaint resolved.
