In recent years, the issue of race discrimination faced by Pacific communities has been brought up by the community at a series of NSW Government consultations. As a response to this, ADNSW held an online discussion and information session with members from pacific communities so they could share their experiences of race discrimination.
The lunch time session was co-facilitated by ADNSW Community Engagement Officer, Shabnam, and Enquiries Officer, Antonina (who is also from a pacific background).
There were over 45 people in attendance and it was great to see participation from DCJ and other government staff from pacific backgrounds as well as community members.
The session raised awareness of how ADNSW can help the pacifica community and also provided us with insights into some of the barriers that this community may experience in using our services.
