Wiyi Yani U Thangani (Women’s Voices) National Summit

Anti-Discrimination NSW (ADNSW) Executive Manager Mia Zahra and Aboriginal Engagement Officer Narelle Hennessy were recently in Canberra to attend the Wiyi Yani U Thangani (Women's Voices) National Summit.
The three-day Summit, attended by over 900 First Nations women and girls from across Australia, was the first ever national gathering of its kind.
Anti-Discrimination NSW is a proud supporter of the Wiyi Yani U Thangani Project, led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner June Oscar AM and the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC).
The structural inequalities and discrimination that First Nations women and girls face are unacceptable and must be addressed and overcome. The Wiyi Yani U Thangani Report puts forward a First Nations female-led plan for the structural change required to do this. The Summit is an important part of this plan, and the ongoing conversations and work ahead of us all.
