Unfair treatment at sporting event

July 2020

Jason* has Tourette syndrome which causes him to have tics and says things repeatedly. He was asked by a security guard to leave a ticketed sporting event because of what he was saying. His mother felt that this was unfair.

Jason’s mother lodged a complaint on his behalf with ADNSW.

At the conciliation conference, Jason’s mother explained his disability. The venue offered Jason free admission to a future event and a food and drinks voucher.
