Anti-Discrimination NSW staff came together on 17 May to mark International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) and stand against LGBTQIA+ discrimination.
LGBTQIA+ people in Australia still experience disproportionate rates of bullying, harassment and discrimination. In 2021-22, ADNSW alone received 14 complaints of homosexual discrimination and 18 complaints of transgender discrimination, as well as five complaints of homosexual vilification and four complaints of transgender vilification.
Homosexual discrimination, transgender discrimination, transgender vilification and homosexual vilification is against the law in NSW. Anti-Discrimination NSW provides free confidential information for anyone experiencing discrimination.
