Told to go home to own country

June 2021

Hung* is an Asian man. When making a booking for his social team at a private sports venue, the owner said that there were a lot of people who could not play on Saturday because of Hung’s large booking and maybe they should ‘go home to their own country’ to play.

Hung lodged a complaint with ADNSW.

The owner said he could not recall the incident but that the comment may have been intended as a joke which, if made, he now regretted. The complaint was resolved when the owner provided a written apology to Hung and agreed to provide a written undertaking that he and his staff would not make such comments in the future.
