Ben* is an Aboriginal man and was working as a casual trainer for a gym.
He said racist comments about his baby’s facial features were made by a fellow staff member on social media, and this was hurtful to him.
When Ben confronted the staff member, she defended her position and refused to apologise. Ben left his job and lodged a complaint with ADNSW.
The complaint was resolved after a conciliation conference. The gym owners apologised and paid Ben $4,000 in compensation.
