Racially abused at work

February 2018

Craig* is an Aboriginal man and worked as a bartender and courtesy bus driver for a registered club. He said that when he returned to work after dropping off patrons, his supervisor asked him where he had been in front of his colleagues, using terms that were very racially abusive.

Craig lodged a complaint of race discrimination with ADNSW.

The complaint was resolved following a conciliation conference. Craig accepted a payment of $5,000 from his employer, for humiliation and embarrassment.
