The Job Maker Hiring Credit Scheme in NSW

Published 14 January 2021

The Australian Government has recently introduced the Job Maker Hiring Credit Scheme. The Scheme provides employers a hiring credit payment when they hire workers aged 16 to 35 years.

Employers advertising and recruiting to take advantage of the Scheme should seek legal advice about their obligations under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

Employers who discriminate against older employees may be acting illegally; for example by dismissing or changing the terms and conditions of their employment. It is against the law to discriminate on the basis of age in employment.

Employees who have experienced discrimination can lodge a complaint with ADNSW. More information about making a complaint can be found on our website or you can contact our enquiries service on 1800 670 812 or adbcontact@justice.nsw.gov.au.
