Laura* was employed as a casual worker in a fast-food restaurant in a beach-side suburb. She was in a relationship with another worker in the restaurant.
Laura stated that her manager Lucas* made her feel uncomfortable after he made sexist remarks about young women in swimwear and female customers. She also stated she was offended that he asked her boyfriend personal questions about their relationship.
Laura states that her employment was terminated after she confronted Lucas about his behaviour. She lodged a complaint with ADNSW.
At the conciliation conference, the parties each restated their version of events. Laura’s employer agreed to settle the complaint on a ‘without admissions’ basis and made and offer of settlement which resolved the matter.
