Barred from nightclub for being a male

Gavin* is a young male who tried to enter a nightclub. He said he refused entry on the ground of his sex.

Gavin left the premises and made a complaint with ADNSW.

The nightclub representatives responded to ADNSW stating that Gavin was not refused entry, however he was advised that he could enter after the gender balance of club patrons was restored.

To resolve the complaint, the nightclub agreed to write an expression of regret to Gavin and give him a copy of the club policy and an invitation to attend the club.
