Anti-Discrimination NSW unveils new branding

Anti-Discrimination NSW has launched a new logo, which signifies the beginning of a new era for the State Government body. The new branding is a significant step in developing a modern identity for the State’s anti-discrimination authority to better position and promote itself as the go-to for discrimination matters.

The organisation’s President, the Honourable Dr Annabelle Bennett AC SC, said she was excited to digitally launch the contemporary new look.

“As Anti-Discrimination NSW continues to evolve and respond to the needs of the diverse communities we serve, it is vital that we stay relevant and find new ways to communicate and broaden our reach,” Dr Bennett said.  “We recognised the need to refresh our branding to help increase our visibility and ensure that we are identifiable at the state and national level.”

Previously known as the Anti-Discrimination Board of NSW, last year the State Government body undertook a name change for the first time since its inception over 42 years ago. ‘Anti-Discrimination Board’ previously referred to both the Board and the government agency that supports the function of the President and the Board.

During an organisational restructure, the board members identified an opportunity to revamp the business unit with a new name, to reflect the positive changes happening within.

“We wanted to redefine ourselves without losing our mission to reduce, if not eliminate, discrimination in New South Wales,” Dr Bennett said. “While the word Board was removed from the business unit’s name, Anti-Discrimination NSW is still governed by an independent statutory Board and our commitment to tackling discrimination, harassment, vilification, and victimisation remains the same. Our work has never been more important and I believe our new logo will complement our communications and marketing material. Its vibrant colour palette celebrates and represents diversity, inclusion and moving forward.”

The next stage of Anti-Discrimination NSW’s revamp is the redevelopment of the website as part of the organisation’s five year digital strategy.

The upgraded website will be more accessible and will incorporate a user-centred design to make it easier for people to make a complaint or find information.

Once the digital revamp has been completed, Anti-Discrimination NSW will have the capacity to create more innovative content on par with its state and national counterparts.
