Using AI tools to write a complaint

Anti-Discrimination NSW welcomes complaints written in your own words. However, if you use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help draft a complaint, it is important to review any AI-generated content carefully before submitting it.

Things to be aware of

AI tools:

  • do not understand the details of your individual situation
  • may not understand the NSW social, cultural and legal context
  • can provide information that is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or irrelevant.

AI tools can also generate information that appears correct but is not. For example, they may refer to laws, policies, court decisions or international agreements that do not apply to your complaint.

Including inaccurate or irrelevant information may make it more difficult for us to identify the issues you want to raise and could delay the assessment of your complaint. If the information provided is unclear, incorrect or misleading, we may need to contact you to clarify it.

Before lodging your complaint, please read it carefully to make sure the information is accurate and reflects your experience.

Your responsibilities

If you use AI tools to help prepare your complaint, you remain responsible for the information you provide.

This includes:

  • checking that the information is accurate, relevant and complete
  • removing any information that does not relate to your complaint
  • ensuring the complaint reflects your own experiences
  • considering the privacy risks of entering personal or confidential information into AI tools.
