Sexually harassed by boss on an overnight work trip

August 2022

Melinda* was asked to accompany her boss on an overnight business trip.

When they arrived at the hotel there was only one bed in the hotel room. Melinda’s boss suggested that he wanted to have a sexual relationship with her and touched her inappropriately. Melinda rejected her boss’ advances.

When they returned from the trip, Melinda was dismissed from her job.

Melinda lodged a complaint of sexual harassment with ADNSW.

Melinda’s boss did not agree with Melinda’s version of events.

The complaint was resolved at a conciliation conference when Melinda’s boss agreed to pay her $10,000 and provide her with a Statement of Service.
